Disc brake issue
« on: August 04, 2019, 08:59:57 AM »
The saga continues with my disc brake swap/front upgrade.

Its really breaking hard now, BUT if, while turning I bump the car (driving over a curb while doing a 180 on a street for instance) I loose ALL breaking power until I pump the brake pedal.
This suggest to be that the piston is displaced and the volume of the Master cylinder is not enough to fill it. A couple of questions:

1. Could it be something else?
2. Have anybody experience this? And know know how to remedy it?
3. Why does the back besked fail at the same time? Its to seperate chambers, so shouldnt it atleast brake on the back wheels?

To answer nr. 1 myself. Did a little more testing. Turns out the problem is the disc brake housing hitting the upper control arm. This car sure werent build for disc besked. Anyone else have experienced this issue? I guess the only way to fix it is by rotating the whole assembly down by having a new bracket lasercut. Its mostly happening on the ledt side, as this still sits 2cm lower than the right

On my car, the calipers are between “3 & 6 o’clock “ in relation to the wheel, so well away from the top arm.
It may help if you post a photo of the assembly without a wheel on the car.

I still have some laser cut plates for the cinquecento/Punto type callipers  :)
