1978 126 Restore
« on: November 25, 2012, 07:10:37 AM »
I finally begining the restoration of my 1978 126. I've had the car for around 2 months now. The body is in very good shape with little rust. Im begining to experience some 1st and reverse issues along with the transmission leaking from every gasket and seal! Also, one of the steering ball joints blew out! Its okay though, i was ready for a bunch of issues when i bought the car since is older than i am.. I bought all new ball joints and tie rods, as well as, a new tranny gasket kit. Im going to fully rebuild the tranny once i get her opened on monday. I dropped the transmission out of the fiat yesterday. I got it all wrapped up and ready for transport to my shop for monday morning! Ill post pics with updates as i go!

I am finally almost done cleaning the darn gearbox.. While ive been cleaning all of the old built up 90w, ive been checking out prices for 1st, reverse, the shaft, and all new bearings. So far, the cheapest is 130 euro for 1st, reverse, and the shaft... Ill post before and after pics when im finished (good enough) of the gearbox! :)
