Mounting Seicento callipers
« on: January 28, 2022, 03:57:04 PM »
Hi all.  Searched for this and couldnt find anything

so put this here for my research and hoefully help a future search

I am looking at the bolt on plate adaptors for getting the Seicento callipers on a 126.  Do these callipers (front and rear) bolt straight to the adaptor plates, or is there a carrier bracket, more like the ones I am used to?

Do the rears connect easily for the hand brake??

Thanks all

Are these the same as the early 500 calliper sets?  Can I use a scrap “modern” 500 brake set front and back?

There are some adapter plates on eBay for the Cinquecento/Seicento conversion
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Fiat-126-Front-brake-Disc-Conversion-Plates-spacers-4x98-PCD-/181788764460?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l49286&mkrid=710-127635-2958-0

2 X adapter plates with washers
2 X good second hand Calipers
2 X discs and pads
2 X new flexible brake hoses to fit the caliper to the existing joint on the solid brake pipe.
Usually it's not necessary to put discs on the rear

The calipers appear to be the same as the early small engined new 500s.  Anyone know if the carrier is the same?

I've fitted the same type of adapter plates to put Cinquecento disc brakes on my 126.

I'd be very surprised if new 500's parts will fit and in any event they'd probably cost you a lot more than the ones listed on ebay - which will fit.

The Cinquecento/Seicento carriers then bolt on the adapter plates which in turn accept the disc brake caliper. On my car I had to fit a 5mm spacer before I could fit Cinquecento Sporting wheels as the hub increases in diameter as shown here...

As for the rears, I wouldn't bother with disc brakes for road use.
