Tune up on dyno
« on: July 21, 2011, 09:28:18 PM »
Hi Gang,

Just booked the little yellow peril in for a tune up on a dyno for Thursay next week, just a little worried about blowing the engine. I will try to video it if posible and let you know how many ponies its running over, I mean putting out :-

Exciting. Would be interesting to know how much hp the little beast is putting out.
Perhaps we should have a guess. ;D

OK,

So got up early and headed down to the dyno shop, after tea the car was straped down (I quess they think it will blow away in the breaze).

1st run was way to lean so was aborted for a richer needle.
Then on the 2nd run it was ignition time as this was way to advanced so i was told. The ignition was plotted out at different revs, and then a power run to 5000rpm happened. I told the operator Allen not to take it over 5500 as we all know what happens.

A couple off surprises was found by all myself and Allen, as the power the car was putting out did not seem correct so tyre size and calculations checked, double checked and trippled checked and was advised to carry a box for when it goes bang.

Now I see you all had a quess from 47.5 to 80bhp (80 was you serious), but are you talking wheel bhp or flywheel bhp as standard 24bhp was at the engine about 18bhp at the wheels?

By the way the boost was set at 15psi to keep the engine from bending another crank before, "she's moaning ill come back to this"

Back to the dyno,

Ok Guys who want's a second quess and quote either flywheel or at the driven wheels so theres no cheating,        Ps standard 650cc is about 18bhp at the back wheels :D

You little teaser you , what are you like. You will have us texting a premium rate number to get the result  :P
But as I understand it you have not got all of the wicks turned up yet so this is just an interim finding. So I reckon 58 at the flywheel  :D

Now I`m not sure if I want to get this right... :P
I know the 126 Fan guys are running a pretty tuned up engine with panda head, twin choke twin port, etc.. and they got 38.5 PS on the flywheel and 23.6 PS on the wheels.
Not sure what the cc of your engine + you've got a supercharger and a turbo, sooo
I guess it`s gonna be round the 50 mark on the flywheel, but I stick with my first guess.
Come on man tel us what it was.
