Banjo bolt lock plates

Hi
Are these still used?
My car doesn't have any fitted and it I'm guessing the brake hoses are original - which makes me think it left the factory without any.
I'm replacing the hoses now as they're perishing.
There's no mention of them in the Haynes manual.
Thanks
John

If the purpose of these is to stop the banjo bolt coming loose, then wouldn't these still be needed with braided hoses?
