That dam temp sender dohickey...
(1/1)
Me_and_BIScuit:
Hello everyone, I'm dealing with a very annoying problem. When I was working on the engine, I accidentally knocked that yellow temp sender recepticle.. dohickey.. thing off and now it won't stay on or if I manage to make it stick, it'll pop off when I look at it weird. The top thread of the part it's supposed to "screw" in looks like half is missing. Is that how it should be? It looks like it should "clip" in but it never stays. All I can do is jam it into that half thread and turn it until it sticks and sits crooked, but give it an evil eye and it'll pop right off again. What can I do? What's the magic trick?

The "socket" with the half thread on the top end.
I wished I could shoot it from a different angle, but hoses are in the way.

See how oddly it sits in the socket? Is this normal?
ChrisRLewis:
The sensor does look distorted. I would just replace the unit they cost around £8 here it the UK.

Grumpf... I was going to drive it today after working on it for forever.. guess that's not gonna happ anytime soon. Are these more or lesss standardized (could I walk into an Auto Zone and get one there?) Or are they specific to Fiat (126)?
andyzeetec:
They don't look specific to the 126, FACET 7.3000
