Ok, now onto the g.box
wasn't hard to get apart, except that i had to buy 12mm alen key and a #4 impact driver. the only reason that i did is becuase the mechanic spotted a fragement of a bearing when he was changing the oil. so i figured easier to do it now
damage report1. the mainshaft bearing has a busted race
2. i think these are the 1st gear - spots the small on the main shaft and the big one on the pinion shaft. if you look carefully, you can see the burn marke on the small gear and the rounded edges on the big one. all gears were fine, but a bit crunchy on the 1st and reverse
everything else looks OK
so to all the g.box experts
1. should i get a new mainshaft (80E from 126fan) and or not bother? looks like the edges of the teeth are meant to be round, not pointed, so not sure the wear i'm showing is a problem
2. should i change the rubber boots at the same time, they look in good nick?
obviously i'll get a new bearing
