New project-1974 sunroof model
« on: February 13, 2011, 11:44:10 PM »
So after a bit of a bumpy last year when I had to sell my 126s, I`m back to owning some again.
I always wanted one with a fold back sunroof, and finally managed to get one today. An early 1974 model. It is a bit rough round the edges, but will be completely restored at some point. It`ll be a long term project, but I don`t mind. I`ll try to keep the looks mostly original with some mechanical upgrades.
It has got a later engine and it starts of the key. An interesting feature is the rev counter:)
 Few pics...

Yeah it is shame about certain bits and some of the bodge work, but hopefully it will be all sorted out.

I haven`t had a chance to start the engine yet, but hopefully will do at the weekend. Just want to see how it`s running and than pull it out. Not sure if it had any internal mods, but would be nice if it did... :)

Looks like it is a good find. I too like the original fold back sunroof which was a feature of the early 126s. There is a another aircooled in the background in the first picture. How many 126s do you have? Good luck on your project. Please let us know how you get on.

You got me excited there about the engine, but unfortunately no engine mods. Took the head off, but nothing special. Anyway after cleaning the carb, I got it running, and it sound pretty sweet, so all is good.
Amateb8. How many? 5  But I would say only 3, as one of them is only for spares and is going to the scrap yard soon, and the bis, I still haven`t decided what to do with it...

Sadly Ladislav had to sell this car, but as I have had my eye on it for ages, and was just the sort of early 126 I have been looking for, I have now taken it off his hands.

This car will be my long term restoration project, probably starting in the spring (once the majority of my house has been finished)!!!

It is now sat in my garden covered over until I can start the work.

As a result I will probably have a 1984 white 'brown' for sale soon, if anyone is interested!?
