anyone tried the road sets (springs/shocks) from 500sport or 500mania? i think they are both the same. Just wondered how hard they are... are they going to ruin the ride?
Cheers

My worry is the ride will be too hard. Also beware that 500 and aircooled suspension is pretty interchangeable. the BIS has a different setup at the back and maybe at the front?
there's a couple of german suppliers that stock alot of 126 stuff, though the tuning gear is quite pricey.
that said, prices in the UK are about ?1 = ?1, which is crazy.

Ive been looking at coilovers/lower wishbones for mine, Do you think coilovers like the ones 500sport sell woudl be avalible from a uk company like GAZ or Avo?

slater ive tried alot of the british companies but they simply dont touch it because of the leaf set up on the front a custom cmpany say like andy robinson racing might build you a similar bolt in set up for about the same price as the italian companies...... ive seen rear clip set ups for tubbing out strett rods that are of a similar type...... worth a try.
-
Yep thats pretty much what i was expecting. :(
Im going to build the wishbones and x-member myself, that part is easy. I was hoping i could get hold of some shocks that would bolt in without body mods but if i cant get any over here i can do the body mods and fit generic coilovers.
Im not afrade of a little fabrication, done it all before. just tryign to get an idea of whats avalible

try rayvern hydralics, ray might be able to help the build all sorts of stuff like that....
-
depends on the amount of batteries and the size of the bags you use, bagged cars can go quick but you really want hydralic rams for proper fast up/down action check rayverns site for info.... (no i dont have shares)
-
I know you can get the stuff to do Minis so it shouldent be that hard to find 8)

if your running on low profile tyres you will have a bumpy ride no matter what suspension your have (if you dont then you need to change your springs and shocks!).
the handling will be improved.
try looking at some VW caddy forums/FAQs, they have leaf suspension and the caddys have been heavily modded so they are experts when it comes to leaf suspension!. a common thing they do is flip the axel giving around a 2 inch drop, but go take a look, it might help

just in case you guys are interested heres an answer i got from ricambio re lowering springs-
the rear springs available are 15cm,17,19 or 21 in length, and the
price is aprox ?100 for a pair plus vat 17.5%. The price to send all these
parts including the front spring to you would be ?12. The total for
everything should be around the ?270 mark, not including any shocks.
-
that with your 10% discount? i have yet to send your CD manual buddy, will do soon!
Chris
