« on: May 03, 2018, 10:37:27 AM »
Ok no jokes about my gear stick please I have enough of that from my wife !

what is procedure to get the gear knob off, I have pulled it ' remember no jokes ' and it will not budge, is there something I can do, I have tried many applications of BF&I but its not moving.

I need to reduce the length ' here we go again '  :$ :$

It unscrews so you need to ...... ehem! Twist your knob but you will need to grip the gear stick shaft with a pair of mole grips first as the shat and knob will just turn together

A word of warning if you have a later car with the gearknob moulded into the gaiter and the gear layout displayed on the top of the knob part.

The gearknob doesn't unscrew - the top of the gearstick isn't threaded but has 2 "ears" that the knob/gaiter is moulded over.
Also the nylon pivot bearing has 2 "ears" to keep the gearstick always facing the right direction (so you can read the gear layout on the top)

If you just turn the knob part expecting it to unscrew, you'll rip the "ears" off the pivot bearing (guess how I know) and the knob still won't come off
