BIS crankshaft end float asjustment

(1/1)

Guldbergdk:
I pulled my BIS engine apart, glassblasted it and serviced all parts.

Crankshaft bearings were shot, so I exhanged those.

I did however forget to look at the crankshaft float before I disassembled it. How are the crankshaft hold in place? Right now there are some 2mm float :-) From the exploded view and the workshop manuals I cannot figure out how its fixed. Is it suppose to ride against the flywheel end or the timing chain end?

Pete126:
It sounds like you may have put the thrust washer in the front bearing the wrong way round as circled, the hole in the centre has a chamfer, which mates with the chamfer on the crank if its the wrong way round it will give you 2/3 mm float

Guldbergdk:
Thx.

I hadn't mounted the washer yet. I forgot was I was looking for and misplaced in a box. Once I found it, it was pretty obvious:)

Pete126:
That's good news, I did it myself many years ago and spent a week scratching my head :headscratch: 🙂
