How to move a 126.
« on: April 06, 2006, 04:27:23 PM »
Ok Time to leave Poland and move back to the UK. Now the sad bit. My 126 that is 80% new (totally rebuilt with new parts) alloys, tuned engine.will be dismantled and packed into the removals van. Honestly. Only the shell minus floor and anything I can't salvage will stay.
When I get to the UK in September, I will buy a right hand drive 126 and rebuild the little monster with my bits and bobs.
Thats the plan anyway  Lock up you 126 all I want is the shell!!

Cris I have the mud flaps but only with 126p written on them and FSM. I will pop them in the post this week.
Thats a beer you owe me when we meet.

Hi
I need a pair of aircooler rear swing arms - is it too late to check this out for me? I didn't realise you were coming over as posting them may prove tricky.

Cheers

Am I being daft, but why didnt you just drive it home? Could have got a cheap flight back out. Youll struggle to find a decent rust free 126 air-cooled here for sensible money.

Mmmmmmm. Its not as rust free as it looks :???:

Outside is fantastic, doors, sills, boot, bonnet. Has a new floor. inner wings are dead, rotten as hell. I am not willing to weld in new inner wings.  there is really no sense.
I am on the look out for a pre 1980s 126. the bodywork was Much better on the older cars, thicker metal.
This is now a doner for a better car in the future. All the lowered suspension, alloys, little tuning bits and bobs will be used on the next car. I will look out for one in the UK if I can't find one I will buy here.
Maybe next year we could arrange a 126 Safari??? Poland for a parts shopping trip. A few members come over to Poland, I speak Polish, know my way around, it's only about 35 Pounds return from Stansted.
Just an Idea.

Hi
re. swing arms - thanks - its the large steel swing arms that the rear hubs are bolted to. I also need a front and rear springs (standard), but don't want to take liberties...

My 500 came over from New Zealand and was just driven into a container and put on a ship - it was very cheap (much cheaper than buying one in the UK).

Ryan air about 35 pounds return from Stansted Gdansk.

I will weigh a couple and let you know Postage, I will be coming over next in July if you can wait till then?

Do you want lowered springs?

A couple of Poles tried but sent crap parts over or ripped people off.
I thought of starting something but, don't know why but? MMMM maybe I will.

i think the some polish people see us in the (rich) west as easy targets,we have approx 5000 polish working here now,the 5 or 6 that i have spoken to quoted me crazy prices for 126 parts, for example,£15.00 for a pair of rear lense's anyone  ???.but when they see the lifestyle in jersey/the west why pass on low prices?.

i do feel for them,we have uni grads etc working picking daffs and digging spuds!,they are pleased to get our minimum wage.

it would be good to have a reliable contact there,i spend quite a lot with gerstl etc (virtualy all comes with made in poland on it!)........id rather give the money to a club member

its not just 126 parts either,im sure there are members of the fiat club that would welcome polski 125/cinq bits etc
