HELP...Im a girl!
« on: May 26, 2006, 11:48:02 AM »
i have owned my 1990 fiat 126bis for 2 years now although she has been off the road this winter...i hope to have her customised shortly & have been considering getting her a soft top. can anyone recommend a good guy in the Lancashire area to customize my fiat & how would i go about getting her a nice convertible roof???
p.s I'm a girl & this girl is a novice in the car department, however I am very willing to learn!
All replys gratefully appreciated! :D x

Hi there, a member called Philippa who is a girl (funnily enough), is from Lancashire, in Rawtenstall she has just bought a blue BIS, it will be worth getting in contact with her!

flip_flaps2005@hotmail.com - shes on msn most nights

The full sunroof idea sounds cool! Will be like a convertible.

Welcome to the forum!

regards

Chris

There is that polish website for spares that does body kits for the 126 if that is the route you want to go.

But I kinda like the idea of using the classy Abath wheels and bits available from Ricambio.

I guess you need to figure out where you are going with the car.

Will you be looking at mildly customising it with a nice paint job and some nice wheels, maybe with some sporty seats.

Or will you be going for something extreme with the body kit etc.

Most members here seem to be keen to keep the 126 standard.

I'm not too bothered, I figure I'm going to drive mine for a year or so and then make up my mind.

I must admit to wanting to change the seats before the year is up though

hi
thanx for the reply....
i would really like to completley blitz my fiat although i do strongly agree that it is better to keep them looking original, so i will probably just go for some nice wheels & a great paint job! i would really like to have her made into a convertible as they are not the most comfortable car to drive when the sun is shining (which isnt very often!) and its great fun watching the heads turn! i agree about the seats though mine defo needs some new ones they sure wernt made with us tall folk in mind & mine are looking a tadd raggedy! my mums good with the old sewing machine & i was thinking of having her make some nice quirky coloured leather seat covers!!

if you go and have it retrimmed by pros it will cost a mint. try if you find it too difficult to find a upholsterers (normal household furniture) as they are not too phased with these seats as the are easy to remove and replicate . it will be so much cheaper and the fabric choice is endless!            by the way if your mother has an industrial machine it will be fine to work on leather but if only a standard hobby unit is used you will struggle .

I was thinking of some seats I saw on the Ricambio website.

I'm just a tad bothered with the thought of no headrests as you wonder about whiplash if someone on a mobile forgets little cars can also stop fairly quickly too!
